Projects: To plant and promote the planting of flowers and trees in our area and to create more beauty in our community.

By-Laws

Article 1: Name
The name of this club shall be Land O'Lakes Garden Club.

Article 2: Object
The object of this club shall be to promote interest in all phases of gardening.

Article 3: Membership
Persons eligible for membership must take an active interest in gardening and be willing to help maintain the club projects.

Article 4: Meetings
Section 1: The regular meetings will be held at the Land O'Lakes Community Center building on the first Tuesday of the month; September thru May, unless otherwise specified.
Section 2: Special meetings of the Executive Board may be called by the President as necessary.

Article 5: Dues
Section 1: The yearly dues of each member shall be payable at the September meeting and may be increased as deemed necessary by membership vote.
Section 2: Any member failing to pay their dues by the December meeting ceases to be a member.
Section 3: People may join our club at any time and dues will be prorated.
Section 4: Members failing to bring a flower to regular meetings will pay a fine of $0.25. The money is to go into the club treasury.

Article 6: Officers--Nomination and Election
Section 1: The officers of this club shall be: President, Vice President, Second Vice President--if needed, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Section 2: The individuals shall be nominated from the floor, provided there is a consent of the nominees.
Section 3: The person(s) nominated for office shall have been a member of the club for at least one (1) year.
Section 4: Nomination and election of officers shall be at the April meeting. If more than one (1) name for an office is presented, voting shall be by ballot. Installation of officers shall take place at the may Luncheon.
Section 5: The term of office shall be two (2) years.
Section 6: The Executive Board shall consist of the officers of the club. President, Vice President, Second Vice President--if needed, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Article 7: Duties of the Officers
Section 1: PRESIDENT: The President shall preside at all meetings of the club and the Executive Board. She (he) shall appoint chairman of the standing committees. She (he) shall sign checks in the absence of the Treasurer. She (he) shall represent the club on all occassions.
Section 2: VICE PRESIDENT: The Vice President shall preside in the absence of the President. She (he) shall be responsible for the programs, speakers, field trips, etc. She (he) shall be responsible to get hot/hostesses for each month. She (he) shall select an appropriate gift for the out-going President every two (2) years.
Section 3: SECOND VICE PRESIDENT: The Second Vice President, if needed, shall preside in the absence of the Vice President. She (he) shall assist the Vice President with their duties, speakers, field trips, etc. She (he) shall compile the yearbook.
Section 4: SECRETARY: The Secretary shall keep a record of all meetings of the club, together with a list of members and shall attend to all correspondence of the club.
Section 5: TREASURER: The Treasurer shall perform the duties usually pertaining to that office, collect all dues and make all payments subject to the approval of the President. She (he) shall sign all checks that have been approved by the club.

Article 8: Committees
Section 1: TELEPHONE: She (he) shall call all members reminding them of the upcoming meeting and any other pertinent information that they may need in preparation for the meeting.
Section 2: PUBLICITY: Send notice of the meetings to the newspaper.
Section 3: SUNSHINE: Send cards to members who are ill. Make a donation in the honor of the present member who has passed away.

Article 9: Amendments and Additions
Section 1: Amendments and additions to the By-Laws may be voted upon at any meeting provided notice of such amendment or addition has been given to members at the previous meeting. A two-thirds (2/3) vote of the members present shall be required to amend or add to the By-Laws.

Article 10: Quorum
Section 1: Two-thirds (2/3) of the active membership must be present to constitute a quorum before voting on club matters.
